SPECIALIST CARS CELEBRATE AT THE Z FEST!

As part of the BMW owner’s club 60th anniversary activities they organised a Z-Fest at Silverstone Classic on 20th-22nd July. This was the UK’s first Z-Fest and featured 100’s of the Z1, Z3, Z4 and Z8 sports cars on display and a parade lap on the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.

Specialist Cars attended the event on Saturday 21st July and showcased their unique collection of a BMW Z1, Z8 and Z4’s. They arranged to meet with their customers at Specialist Cars in Stevenage at 7.30am and then drove in convoy to Specialist Cars Luton where they met up with the rest of the group and enjoyed complimentary breakfast. There were 8 cars in their group including a rare E30 M3 convertible, two Z1 cars, a Z3, a 3.0 Z4 coupe, a Z4 M Roadster, a Z4 M Coupe and Specialist Cars very own Z8.

The group then left Luton and travelled in convoy through the country roads in the glorious sunshine to Silverstone, with the BMW convertible drivers being able to take advantage of the weather with their roofs down. After a lovely drive through the stunning countryside avoiding the queues of traffic on the motorways the fleet arrived at Silverstone where they took their positions in a stunning line up.
Paul Travers, Master Technician at Specialist Cars Stevenage helped organise the convoy said “When we arrived at Silverstone we had to queue for a bit but it didn’t matter as we were surrounded with eye candy such as Classic Ferrari’s, Porsches, Jag’s and other exotic and very expensive machinery. The BMW car club instructed us to line up in our specific model range, so Z1, Z3, Z4 and Z8, and the rest of the day was left to enjoy at our own pace. The main highlight of the day was at midday when we able to drive around the Silverstone Grand Prix track in a parade lap which was such an amazing experience being one of the hundreds of BMW Z cars to lap the circuit.”

The Specialist Cars group were so lucky with the weather that most of them stayed until late into the evening and still managed to drive home with the roof down. The day was a great success.

Specialist Cars customers that travelled in convoy and attending the Z-Fest celebrations thoroughly enjoyed the event and there have been many positive comments and pictures posted on Specialist Cars Facebook page from our customer BMW enthusiasts. The event seemed to spark a lot of attention.
